Peter Mark Williams served as a content researcher for the Detroit African American History Project in it's first phase.   He has a Bachelor of Public Affairs with a concentration on Urban Policy and Management from Wayne State University.   At Wayne State University he is pursuing a Master of Arts in United States history with concentration in African-American Studies.

His Master's research examines the Michigan Underground Railroad, the settlements in Canada West (Ontario) where refugees from slavery and from oppression settled.   His research also examines the remigration of many of those individuals and their progeny.   In 2000, he presented a paper to the Michigan in Perspective: The 42nd Local History Conference entitled "The Fugitive Slave Law of 1850: Michigan and Canada West Respond."
